On November 22nd in Brussels a discussion on public financing on culture took place. The meeting was organised by the Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament in connection with the publication of Rosselli Foundation’s Insitute for Media Economics report ‘Public investment in culture and communications industry’.
The meeting, held in the European Parliament’ s seat, begun with the opening speech by Silvia Costa, MEP from S&D group. Later on Flavia Barca, the director of the Institute for Media Economics, presented the results of the aforementioned report. Dorota Ilczuk was one of the experts invited to discussion. The other speakers were: Gerard de Graaf – Director, Audiovisual Media Internet, DG Information Society & Media, European Commission; Gert-Jan Koopman – Deputy Director-General State Aids, DG Competition, European Commission; André Lange – Head of Department, Information on Markets and Financing, European Audiovisual Observatory; Doris Pack – Chair Committee on Culture and Education, European Parliament; Vladimir Sucha – Director, Culture, Multilingualism and Communication, DG Education and Culture, European Commission and Andreas Wiesand – Executive Director, ERICarts (European Institute for Comparative Cultural Research).
